Lori Harvey Knows Her Angles
How does Lori Harvey always look like Lori Harvey? “Knowing your angles and having perfect lighting is key to getting the perfect shot,” she tells Bazaar. At the moment, the 27-year-old model, skincare brand founder, and swimwear designer is reminiscing about her recent trip to Monaco. The occasion? The unveiling of Chanel’s Sport High Jewelry collection, which saw her spending the weekend sipping cocktails in the former home of the late Karl Lagerfeld, taking in the opera, and dining at the prestigious Casino de Monte-Carlo.
This might sound like a wildly glamorous few days for the average person, but for Harvey, it’s typical weekday fare. “I’ve been fortunate enough to attend many Chanel events over the years. My first event was when I was around 14 years old,” she says. Harvey is quick to admit that Chanel has played a role in shaping the woman she is today: “My earliest memory is playing dress-up in my mother’s closet, trying on all her Chanel pearls and the iconic tweed jackets.” For this very special week, the model has traded in the tweed jacket for silk trousers with a black ribbon belt and a sheer long-sleeved top with a bralette underneath. The pieces were plucked right from the house’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection—but Harvey has kept the string of pearls, a nod to her childhood memories.
Since she’s clearly no stranger to the Chanel dinner-party circuit, I ask if there is anyone she could be seated next to at this point who would leave her starstruck. “If she were still alive, having Coco Chanel as a dinner-party seatmate would be iconic!” she responds.
Still, of all the high-jewelry releases Harvey has attended over the years, this latest collection is by far her favorite, in part thanks to a particular emerald-cut ring that left her diamond-struck. “It was so beautiful, I almost fainted!” she says. If she had to give one rose to the glamorous getaway, she says being able to try on the jewelry was surely it. As for her thorn, the answer required little hesitation: “The trip ended too soon!”
