Locals sip n’ shop in celebration of Save the Closet’s first anniversary

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Locals are getting ready to shop at a returning event in town. Save the Closets monthly Sip n’ Shop has officially hit its first anniversary.

Save the Closet is a natural disaster relief organization that was founded in 2018 following Hurricane Michael.

The organization aims to give people free clothes in disaster zones, the Sip n’ Shop was created last year.

The owner, Katy Pinson, hosts local vendors to show off their items and invites residents in the community to have a fun day of shopping. During the event, customers can even donate clothes and win prizes.

“It is so fun to see our regular customers come in and to see other people they know. They’re like, Oh, how’s your mom and them? And you know, it’s like a locals day. It’s really cool. Plus, you know, other people come in to and sort of get to see a different side to our town than the tourist part,” Save the Closet Founder Katy Lingle Pinson said.

Save the Closet is staffed entirely by volunteers. Pinson and her team will be heading out to Oklahoma on July 28th to deliver clothes to those impacted by the severe weather.

This will be their 58th giveaway and the 7th state for the Save the Closet.
