LIVE: 2024 F1 Monaco Grand Prix
Charles Leclerc will lead the field away for the Monaco Grand Prix, after clinching pole position around the streets of Monte Carlo.
Having twice topped the grid-setting session in the principality, the home hero will be hoping to secure his first F1 triumph at the iconic venue – which would be his sixth grand prix victory outright.
Leclerc has failed to convert any of his previous 12 pole positions, so the pressure will be on the Monegasque driver to take his first grand prix win since Austria in 2022.
Starting alongside him is Oscar Piastri, who is himself looking for a first grand prix victory. With no chance of rain, the result will likely come down to pit stops and safety cars, with Monaco notoriously difficult to pass at.
Other than that, reliability and the initial launch off the line will probably be the main determining factors.
Having endured a tough weekend, Max Verstappen starts from sixth. Team-mate Sergio Perez suffered a second consecutive Q1 elimination in Monaco. He lines up P16 after the two Haas’ were disqualified for a technical infringement – they will start from the pit lane.
