We’ve known for a while now that Samsung is going to unveil the Galaxy Watch 7 series at its Unpacked event in July. Details about the new smartwatches have been slim but as the launch approaches, we’re now hearing more about them.
In addition to just hearing about them, this is the first time that we’re also seeing something about them. Renders of the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra have been leaked online, giving us our first look at the major design upgrade Samsung is introducing with its next smartwatch lineup.
Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra tries very hard to look like a normal watch
These leaked renders show that Samsung has tried to find a middle ground between a squarish design and the circular design that its Galaxy Watch devices have become synonymous with. The result is something that looks much similar to traditional Panerai watches.
Beyond that, there are some other observations worth making. There appears to be a third physical button in the middle, flanked by the two usual physical buttons. Perhaps this may pave the way for additional functionality, particularly related to Galaxy AI.
Larger speaker grills also appear to be visible in addition to a more sleek integration of the watch bands with the case. The display remains circular, said to be of 1.5-inches with the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra measuring in at 47 x 47.4 x 16.4 mm. The beloved rotating bezel has been retained, with the bezel being adorned with 5-minute interval markings, another design choice that makes it appear more like a non-smart watch.
Earlier reports have suggested that the Galaxy Watch 7 series will have a new chipset, charge 50% faster than its predecessor, and may finally bring blood sugar monitoring. Expect Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Watch 7 series at its July 10th Unpacked event in Paris, France.
