Krispy Kreme to sell donuts for under for brand’s birthday

Krispy Kreme will celebrate its 87th birthday by giving customers the chance to save on glazed donuts.

The donut and coffeehouse chain will be offering Original Glazed dozens for 87 cents on July 12 – though customers must first purchase a dozen at regular price.

It is a one-day only deal that will happen at participating US Krispy Kreme locations.

‘Treating our fans on our birthday is a long-time tradition,’ Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme said.

‘A dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just 87 cents when you buy any dozen is a sweet way for us to thank our fans who have kept us going all these years.’

Customers are limited to two dozen donuts when purchased in-store or at a drive-thru.

However, shoppers only have a one-dozen donut limit if they order them online for pickup or delivery.

Those looking to redeem this special online can do so by using the code: BDAY.

Krispy Kreme’s official birthday is on July 13, 1937 – the day the donuts started being sold at grocery stores.

Founder Vernon Rudolph cut a hole in an outside wall after a customer asked to purchase a hot donut.

Business took off after Rudolph began selling Original Glazed donuts on the sidewalk.

Today, there are over 12,000 Krispy Kreme locations worldwide, and nearly 400 shops are in the US.

Krispy Kreme celebrated its 86th birthday last year by doing a similar special deal.

Participating locations sold Original Glazed donuts for 86 cents to customers who purchased a dozen at any price.

‘We love treating our fans and celebrating our birthday with them every year,’ Skena said.

Like this year, Krispy Kreme’s 2023 birthday celebration special was limited to two dozen when purchased in-store or via drive-thru.
