Kabir Sadanand: My shift to fitness is with an intent to transform my look and explore new roles, enough of playing the good guy – Times of India
Popular actor-director Kabir Sadanand, known for featuring in shows like Kuch Kehti Hai Khamoshiyaan, Family No.1, Shagun, Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan among others feels getting fit from fat is helping him explore a new side to being on screen as an actor.
He said: “For me staying fit does not just mean physical well-being and looking good! but it will also help me grow professionally. As an artist I have had the baby fat, boy next door look forever, times are changing, audience choices are changing and I don’t want to be left behind. I want to explore new roles that push me to the edge. I am using my fitness regime to carve a new lean and sharp look. The results are there to be seen, suddenly makers are seeing me in a new light and it’s encouraging to say the least. With it I will enjoy more opportunities to explore new roles. I’m bored of playing the good guy on screen.”
Talking about his fitness regime, he shared, “Everyone one of us should devote at least an hour a day to fitness, Exercise helps activate the right hormones that stimulate confidence and get you to be smarter. I am loving the reactions and it feels good to have people now equate me to being a health and fitness freak I love. It is essential to maintain a balance between work, rest and activities and meditation helps settle the restless mind in these hectic times.” My gym time also gives me some precious time with my daughter my gym buddy.
He continued, “Exercise can be as simple as walking at a pace and hold a conversation and burn fat. The feeling after a good workout is brilliant and mentally relaxing that means no more or less mental stress. A daily dose of exercise four to five times a week helps you work on the muscles and your fitness levels also for people over 40 its essential to work on the muscles that are depleting every year, I promise it will help in old age. I seriously recommend at least an hour to ourselves and there is no better way than burning the gym floor.”
Kabir feels being healthy is not just important but a must and he added, “If you are not healthy, you cannot lead a happy life and won’t be able to contribute to your family and society. Get your gym clothes on and get ahead of your daily problems. It’s easy to stay fit. Like daily morning walk improves our fitness level. We should plan strenuous Gym activities and know our limits. Exercise burns our fat and controls the cholesterol level in the body. Various outdoor games like cricket, football, volleyball, etc keeps our body fit. Regular exercise maintains our body shape. And morning yoga helps to keep ourselves calm.”
He is also known for directing films like ‘Fugly” and ‘Tum Milo Toh Sahi’.
