LAURIUM — Judith Sue Jukuri, 49, a resident of Laurium, peacefully passed away on Tuesday May 21, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

She was born on May 23, 1974, in Laurium, to Nathan and Miriam (Fellman) Ruonavaara, the youngest of 11 children.

Judy graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1992. She later received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Michigan Technological University in 1997.

On September 12, 1998, she was united in marriage to Michael Jukuri at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Atlantic Mine.

Judy was employed at Midwest Loan Services, Somero Enterprises and currently she and Mike own and operate the Bella Vista Motel in Copper Harbor. She was also the inspiration for her son Noah’s business, Noah’s Ark Charters.

Above all else, Judy was a loving mother and a pillar of strength for her family. She prioritized raising her children and nurturing her family in a Christian home, always putting their needs before any job or business. Judy was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church. Her strong faith guided her through her healing journey and is what keeps her family strong. She still managed to uplift others who were helping with her care and never complained. She was a beacon of strength and hope because of her strong faith, and it inspired many who were in her presence, particularly in the last several months. Her loving family is a testament to her grace, dedication, faith and strength.

She was preceded in death by her infant sister Carol.

Surviving are her husband Michael Jukuri; children Josie (Jesse) Berg of Calumet, Noah Jukuri, Ryann Jukuri, Beau Jukuri, Myles Jukuri and Micah Jukuri all at home; parents Nathan and Miriam Ruonavaara; brothers and sisters: Linda Ruonavaara, Timothy Ruonavaara, Thomas (Judy) Ruonavaara, Rebecca Braun, Peter Ruonavaara, Mary (Todd) Ellis, Nancy (Marcus) Ingram, MI, Vicky (Bryan) Loveland, Nathan (Mary) Ruonavaara.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet and on Friday one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery following the service.
