Imaging negative after Bogaerts exits G1 with shoulder injury

ATLANTA — Padres second baseman Xander Bogaerts exited Game 1 of Monday’s split doubleheader against the Braves, a 6-5 victory, with mild inflammation in his left shoulder.

In the bottom of the third inning, Bogaerts dove to stop a Ronald Acuña Jr. ground ball to his left side and awkwardly rolled on his left arm. He doubled over in pain and was replaced at second base by Tyler Wade.

He’s got some stability more than it looked like he might have, and he’s got some strength in some range of motion. More time will tell, but the initial feedback is the best-case scenario.”

Shildt said it was “too early to tell” if Bogaerts will avoid a stint on the injured list.
