‘I’m a fitness influencer – but you should never want to look like me’
Fitness expert Lizzy High – known as Liz Bites Back to her 445,000 Instagram followers – is used to stunning followers with her incredible physique, but she has now revealed why people shouldn’t aspire to look like her
A stunning fitness influencer told her followers they should never aspire to look like her.
Lizzy High is known for sharing health tips online. The 22-year-old from North London, better known as Liz Bites Back to her 445,000 Instagram followers, recently said comparing yourself to people you see online is never a good idea.
The reason why is simple – social media never shows the full picture. She proved this by sharing a candid video of her body, and how it changes when viewed from different angles.
As well as looking super lean and toned, Lizzy drew attention to the fact that her tummy can roll and crease when she relaxes and sits down. It can also look a lot rounder when she experiences bloating.

This is completely normal, and she wants people to remember this. Nobody looks like a flat image 24/7 – no matter how much our minds programme ourselves to believe it.
Writing on Instagram, Lizzy said: “Stop comparing what’s online to your reality. Yes some people have flat stomachs. Yes it’s okay to have physique goals like looking ‘toned’.
“And even though it’s possible, don’t get caught up thinking you or anyone looks picture perfect all the time. Different angles, time of day, lighting and the food you eat all causes your body to fluctuate, but don’t let that dictate your worth.
“You see amazing in all angles.”
Since she shared the post, it’s been liked over 2,000 times, and people were quick to share their thoughts too. Her followers told her they love her posts, because they think they’re so “honest”.
One person said: “Great advice, very realistic.” Another added: “I’ve absolutely hated swimsuit shopping this week; thanks for the reality check.”
A third replied: “I honestly love these reminders. I find myself criticizing myself but then also being like wow, you look good girl, but angles & lighting play a big role.”
Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “I love that this is not edited – it’s obvious from the slight sunburn lines. I can relate to all of this.
“And, thanks to having had a C-section, my belly always pooches over my swim bottoms. Oh well.”
Earlier this month, Lizzy shared the secrets to losing fat while building muscle. At the time, she posted a before-and-after photo on Instagram to demonstrate how simple changes can transform your body.
While she looked fabulous in both images, it’s clear her physique is now more muscular – and it’s all thanks to a few changes. According to her, success comes with following a structured plan and eating in a calorie deficit for fat loss or maintenance if you want to build muscle.
She also said eating a high-protein diet is vital. In Lizzy’s own words, other things people need to do, include:
- Follow a well structured workout plan – you will not see progress if you are doing random exercises.
- Make sure to focus on form then progressive overload.
- Train to near failure for most exercises.
- Focus on increasing your energy expenditure. You don’t need to slave away on a treadmill but she suggests doing about a hour worth of LISS per week e.g 4×15 minutes incline walk and have a step goal.
- Make sure you are eating enough protein. Without this your body will not recover and therefore you will not grow muscle.
