I Never Look Jet Lagged When I Travel Thanks to This Double-duty SPF 40 Face Spray That Gives Me Glowy Skin
I was sitting in Italy stuffing my face with gelato (as one does when in Italy) when a lady came up to tell me my skin was glowing. “I think it’s sweat,” I bashfully told her. (Stairs are my lifelong nemesis and I had just returned from climbing the 498 steps of Bologna’s Asinelli Tower to enjoy panoramic views of the city.)
Two more unsolicited stranger compliments and a week later in Milan, a friend noted I was looking radiant. I jokingly gave credit to my carefully curated diet of pasta, pizza, and gelato before it hit me: I had started using Supergoop’s (Re) Setting Refreshing Mist Sunscreen SPF 40 and had to credit my new glow to it.
Buying the Supergoop! (Re) Setting Refreshing Mist SPF 40 was an impulse purchase. I really just needed two things: sun protection and it had to be a spray-on product for easy reapplication throughout the day for me to consistently use it and for it to stick in my routine. But now, I won’t travel without this little game-changer.
Supergoop! (Re) Setting Refreshing Mist SPF 40
The lightweight and multi-tasking formula helps refresh skin, shield from pollution, and boost or reapply your SPF protection throughout the day. It includes ingredients that absorb oil so your skin never looks greasy and that also help to extend the life of your makeup — even on the most humid travel day. I love the weightless feel and, as a darker-complexioned woman, I can confirm there’s no white cast to painstakingly deal with.
It’s an easy travel sunscreen and compact enough to carry in my day bag. I use it for setting my makeup or to give me a fresh-face glow on days I want to a more natural look. It does its job to provide extra SPF protection so I have peace of mind on long days under the sun whether I’m sightseeing, at the beach, or running errands. (I’ve also applied it on my body in desperate moments thinking — read: hoping — that some SPF protection is better than no coverage.)
To be clear, I don’t use this spray as my primary sunscreen. General guidance is for people — regardless of skin color — to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (this blocks both UVA and UVB rays) with an SPF of at least 30, according to the American Academy of Dermatology Association. I start my day with a higher SPF cream sunscreen, but for reapplication, I turn to Supergoop’s spray when traveling.
When all is said and done, the product is perfect for travel because it serves multiple functions: refreshing face mist on a sweltering day, makeup setting spray, easy SPF reapplication, and compliment catalyst.
