HP Decides To Top Up Things In The AI PC Markets, Reveals Cutting-Edge OmniBook Ultra, Which Features Industry’s Highest AI Performance With AMD Ryzen AI 300 APUs

HP is all set to show its dominance in the AI PC segment through its newest laptop release. The firm has been quiet for quite some time, amid competitors such as ASUS and Acer showcasing their AI PC-relevant offerings. However, it looks like HP has decided to break the silence, too, in style. The company has unveiled its most capable OmniBook Ultra AI PC laptop at the “Imagine AI” event held in New York last Thursday. At the event, HP showed immense optimism about the integration of AI into consumer products, claiming that it enables creativity for everyone.

While the company didn’t reveal the laptop’s complete specifications, it did tout it as the “highest-performing AI PC” and disclosed that it features the power of AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 “Strix” APUs.

  • Inspires without compromise: Unleash endless creativity with the device’s AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processor with integrated AMD Radeon 800M graphics. Its powerful NPU offers unparalleled performance and up to 21 hours of battery life.
  • Supercharges productivity: The OmniBook Ultra is co-engineered with AMD to enable up to 55 TOPS of NPU performance. HP AI Companion optimizes the device for greater productivity and brings AI tools and solutions onto the device. It will soon offer expanded functionality for managing PC settings and troubleshooting HP products.
  • Enables immersive and seamless collaboration: Experience life uninterrupted with collaboration tools like an AI-enabled, high-resolution 9 MP camera using the Poly Camera Pro app and Windows Studio Effects.
  • Protects from threats: Industry-leading protection and capabilities of Wolf Security found on HP’s commercial devices are now available on the HP OmniBook Ultra. The unique security chip allows the PC’s core to self-heal from AI-assisted cyberattacks while keeping data private and users productive.
  • Future-proofed technology that’s sustainable: The OmniBook Ultra will have a free update to Copilot+ PC experiences when available from Microsoft. And the device is designed using up to 90% recycled metals and 5% ocean-bound plastics to help reduce environmental impact.

Since the focus was all on AI, HP did showcase the AI TOPS performance that they were able to squeeze out of the Omnibook Ultra, and according to the company, it managed to deliver 55 NPU TOPS which is 5 TOPS higher than the officially rated 50 TOPS of the same Ryzen AI 300 family.

Stacking up the SoC in the HP OmniBook Ultra against competitors such as Apple’s M4 chip, the NPU performance was reported to be 45% higher and almost double what M3 offers. HP says that with AMD’s partnership, they have managed to create a device that offers the industry’s fastest AI performance, and their OmniBook Ultra features a “co-engineered” design, which is why the Ryzen AI 300 chip delivers 55 TOPS of AI performance. It looks like HP managed to squeeze out extra NPU TOPS by clocking the AI engine higher while working with AMD.

The HP OmniBook Ultra will also be certified under Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC program. It will offer up to 21 hours of battery life and an HP AI Companion for a personalized experience. The laptop also offers a 2240 x 1400 resolution IPS LCD panel with up to 300 nits brightness. Interestingly, the OmniBook Ultra will offer Thunderbolt 4 connectivity as well, which makes it the first laptop within AMD’s camp to feature the standard.

In terms of pricing, the OmniBook Ultra will be available for $1,449.99 and is expected to be available by the beginning of August.
