How you can visit the ‘Home Alone’ movie house, now on the market for .25M

WINNETKA, IL – The large house from 1990 hit comedy movie, “Home Alone,” has hit the market and it’s just a short road trip for many people in Michigan. The home is in a suburb of Chicago and it’s actually not far from a number of other famous movie homes.

Located at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois, the home is listed for $5.25 million. It’s just over a three hour drive from Grand Rapids, just under three hours from Kalamazoo and just over four hours from Ann Arbor.

The outside of the brick Georgian residence looks pretty much the same, but you won’t recognize the inside as the home was fully renovated and expanded in 2018 and most of the home’s interiors for the movie were shot elsewhere.

The just over 9,000 square foot home has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a three-car attached heated garage. There’s a screened-in porch with a wood-burning fireplace and a patio. There’s also two laundry rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs.

The master suite features a fireplace, walk-in closet and a marble spa bath. There’s also a gym and a movie theatre in the basement. And, perhaps the biggest surprise, is the indoor basketball court which features a regulation-distance 3-point line with 25-foot ceilings.

This is the second time the “Home Alone” house has been on the market since 2012 when it sold for $1.58 million.

A lot of people take road trips to see the house from the outside. While you’re there, you can head about 4 miles to the “Uncle Buck” house located at 2609 Lincoln Street in Evanston.

Just over 2 miles away is the home from “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” located at 230 Oxford Rd. in Kenilworth. That home is on the market for $2.5 million.

Just 4 and a half miles away is the home from the movie “Sixteen Candles” located at 3018 Payne St. in Evanston.

And finally, about six miles away is Cameron’s home from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” It’s located at 370 Beech Street in Highland Park.
