DALLAS (KDAF) — With school out and summer here, that means more free time for the kids. Here are some ideas to help them prioritize mental and physical wellness from Planet Fitness’ national lead trainer, Teddy Savage.
Planet Fitness is launching their fourth annual High School Summer Pass, which is a free gym membership for teens aged 14-19 lasting through August 31.
“We’re really trying to promote the connection between mental health and physical fitness,” Savage said. “With this being our fourth installment, to date, we’ve invested more than $200 million in waived membership dues to really help our teenagers promote healthy habits as they move along and grow in their body.”
According to a national survey by Planet Fitness, 94% of teenagers struggle with both emotional and mental health, 72% feel self-conscious, and 43% struggle with having a positive body image.
However, of teenagers who work out, 63% feel better about themselves after a great workout.
