Houston airports expect 1.9 million passengers during July 4th travel period
HOUSTON (KIAH) — Summer vacations are in full swing, and one of the signs of that is how many people are flying somewhere right now.
The Houston Airport System reports that 1.9 million people will fly through Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports during the Independence Day travel period defined as June 27 through Sunday.
Airlines have added 60 additional flights from Houston’s two major airports, Hobby and Bush Intercontinental, for the summer months adding to the traffic.
Ongoing construction is another factor to consider when planning your trip to Bush.
HAS stands by their recommendation that travelers for domestic trips arrive two hours before their flights, and those who are traveling internationally should arrive three hours early.
They steer all travelers to their website which has information on flight statuses and wait times at security checkpoints.
Travelers can also reserve their parking on that site in advance, guaranteeing them a space when they get to the airport.
