Hogwarts Legacy’s First DLC Update Angers Fans
Hogwarts Legacy players are left baffled by the game’s first downloadable content. Specifically, for its lack of any major updates.
As reported by Gaming Bible, players and fans have not responded positively to the first round of DLC for Hogwarts Legacy. Set to be released on June 6, the summer update is set to include a new photo mode, multiple new skins for the game’s mounts, new clothing and glasses options for player characters, and the addition of the Haunted Hogsmede quest which was previously only available for the Sony PlayStation.

One of the major points of contention among players is the lack of a New Game Plus mode. Considered a staple of modern roleplaying games, New Game Plus typically allows players to replay their favorite titles from the very beginning, usually while keeping their achievements and progress from earlier playthroughs. The absence of a New Game Plus mode is especially disheartening for fans who were looking for a reason to jump back into Hogwarts Legacy after already completing the game.
Released on February 10, 2023, Hogwarts Legacy garnered largely positive to middling reviews, with an overall Metacritic score in the mid-80s across all platforms. The game also received a multitude of nominations for various gaming awards, including Game of the Year and Best Game on Steam Deck from The Steam Awards, the latter of which Hogwarts Legacy won. Hogwarts Legacy was also nominated for Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards in 2022, though it was beaten out for the award by Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
