Historical Society ‘Fashion Flaunt’ set for Wednesday, May 29
Bridesmaids will be the focus of this year’s Warren County Historical Fashion Flaunt fundraiser.
The program, set for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at the Wilder Museum, is called “Always a Bridesmaid… Never a Bride!”
“Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and fancy beverages while local models parade the runway, showcasing bridesmaids’ dresses from years gone by,” C.J. Chase, the Society’s program manager, said.
“The event will also include an exhibit of vintage gowns from the Warren County Historical Society’s textiles collection,” she said. “These fabulous dresses, in a rainbow of colors and a variety of fabrics, span the decades and the seasons. See how women of the past century supported friends and family on their special day.”
Vivians Bridal Boutique and the Tybout House will bring special displays, as well.
“The evening’s finale will be the always popular “Auction of the Purses” with professional auctioneer Scott Amundson,” Chase said. “High bidders win purses–and the super-secret prizes hidden inside them, such as jewelry, gift cards to area stores and restaurants.”
The Fashion Flaunt event marks the opening of the Wilder Museum’s season.
“The cost of entry is a donation, and all proceeds go to maintaining the Wilder Museum, the largest museum in the area,” Chase said.
Those looking to come are asked to RSVP by calling the Society at (814) 723-1795 or email warrencountyhistory@aol.com
The Museum will be open Memorial Day through Labor Day on Tuesday, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
