Here’s When Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Is Going To Drop
Elden Ring’s highly anticipated expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, is dropping later this week, and a lot of people are pumped for what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year. Whether you’re a lorehound or simply someone looking for a proper excuse to dive into the game of 2022, Shadow of the Erdtree is going to be massive, and you’re probably going to want to get into it as soon as possible to avoid potential spoilers.
Ahead of launch, the official Elden Ring Twitter account posted a graphic detailing the release schedule for the expansion, including local time zones and the exact time players should expect it to be available.
As can be seen in the above picture, Shadow of the Erdtree won’t be launching at once all around the world. In North America at least, the expansion will be launching at 9 PM PDT on June 20 on consoles, meaning it’ll be available on the east coast at midnight on the 21st. Most of the launch times differ more drastically between PC and consoles though, with the former receiving the DLC at 3 PM PDT by comparison.
In most other regions of the world, especially throughout Europe and Asia, console players will be able to access Shadow of the Erdtree at midnight local time. In many of those same regions, the PC launch is usually off by an hour or two.
Unfortunately for folks looking to preload the expansion and jump in right away, that benefit seems reserved for PlayStation owners. Elden Ring players who purchased the game on the PS4 and PS5 will be able to begin preloading Shadow of the Erdtree 48 hours prior to launch in their respective regions. Xbox and PC players are being forced to download the DLC at launch.
Until then, there’s a lot you can be doing to prepare for the expansion, not the least of which is defeating Mohg, the optional boss that needs to be beaten in order to access Shadow of the Erdtree. So get to it y’all, and I’ll see you in the Land of Shadow soon.
