Hawaiʻi’s ultimate job fair helps you find your dream job

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The City and County of Honolulu are hosting a fun and free Hiring Event that is meant to help those in Hawaiʻi who are unemployed or underemployed to gain access to employment.

This is a great chance for job seekers to find new opportunities!

What’s happening?

  • Over 90 employers, including government offices, businesses, and non-profits, will be there looking to hire.
  • There will be a Resource Center with laptops and printers to help job seekers fill out applications and print resumes.
  • Free workshops on digital skills will be available, hosted by Waipahū Community School for Adults.
  • Learn about the State of Hawaiʻi’s QUEST Paid Internship program for adults, students, seniors, and veterans.

Hawaiʻi’s employment stats

In Hawaiʻi, the unemployment rate is low, which means there are plenty of job opportunities.

As of May 2024, the state of Hawaii unemployment rate is 3%. There is a total of 20,000 individuals who are unemployed with 6,900 seeking unemployment insurance.

This means that around 13,000 individuals that are registered as unemployed do not have access to unemployment insurance for one reason or another.

As of the end of the first quarter of 2024, there are 634,000 residents employed in the state of Hawaiʻi. You can click here for more information.

In the state, approximately 6.1% of those employed are employed below their educational or skill levels. This underutilized segment of the workforce costs employers money since they are not fully utilizing the talents and skills available to them. For more information, click here.

The event is taking place on Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
