Great Outfits in Fashion History: Vanessa Hudgens in Pink Ruffles at Her First Red-Carpet Premiere
There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
It’s hard to believe, but there was a period of time before Vanessa Hudgens became a Disney darling. In 2004 — two years before “High School Musical” — the actor stepped onto the Hollywood scene with a minor role in “Thunderbirds.” While it was hardly a breakout career moment, it did lay the foundation for her (now) strong red-carpet fashion.
At the movie’s premiere (Hudgens’ first-ever carpet!), it was clear the actor came ready for her big moment. She donned a bright pink ruffled slip dress with a high-low hemline and subtly ruched bodice. (It was a far cry from the bohemian aesthetic Hudgens would later subscribe to and ultimately become famous for.) Accessories-wise, she reached for everything silver: a drop necklace, hoop earrings, a bangle bracelet, a sparkly clutch and open-toe heels.
