Google rolling out Android 15 Beta 2.1 with Private space fix

Following last week’s big update, Google is rolling out Android 15 Beta 2.1 today with just one fix for Private space.

AP31.240426.023 with the May 2024 security patch is available for all supported devices: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a.

  • This minor update to Android 15 Beta 2 fixes the issue where creating a private space on a device for the first time removed app icons from the Home screen (or Home screens if more than one Home screen had been added). (Issue #340868295)

This small 11-12MB OTA update is already widely rolling out.

Google also provided some tips on how to use Private space, with the last one being particularly handy:

  • If you have hidden private space and can’t remember how to get it back, type ‘Private Space’ in search bar, and tap on ‘Private space: Tap to set up or open’
  • If you forget the unlock factor for private space, you can delete private space from Settings > System > Reset options > Delete private space, using your device unlock factor.
  • You can install a private space version for an app that you have outside private space by long pressing on the app icon and tapping ‘Install in private’.

All eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program will be offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 2.1.
