Global Entry app lands at KCI Airport ahead of summer travel season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Global Entry mobile app is now available at KCI Airport, just in time for summer travel season.

The program is offered through U.S. Customs and Border Protection for people arriving in Kansas City on international flights.

International travelers who pay for Global Entry are scanned at airport kiosks where the option is offered. It allows travelers to move through customs quicker.

The app option will help travelers get through airports, like KCI, even easier.

Anyone with global entry can download the Global Entry Mobile App before entering the airport’s Federal Inspection Service Area. Travelers just submit a photo though the mobile app to verify membership and arrival in the US. Each traveler using the app will receive a virtual receipt. The traveler then shows the receipt to a Global Entry Customs and Border Protection Officer to enter the US.

While the Global Entry app is free to download, users are required to pay a $100 application fee before being approved for the Global Entry program. The traveler must be approved before either option can be used to reenter the US.

KCI Airport added the option just in time for summer vacation. The airport offers seasonal direct flights to and from Mexico and Jamaica.
