Gerard Pique gives his verdict on Joan Laporta and current Barcelona chaos

Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has given his verdict on the latest crisis engulfing the Catalan giants.

Xavi’s future has been plunged into doubt once more, with Joan Laporta thought to be ready to fire the coach for his comments ahead of Thursday’s win over Almeria.

Pique spoke to Jijantes about the situation and revealed how he sees things at the club right now.

“Laporta is, for many, considered the best president in the history of the club,” he said.

“Results are not everything. Members are lucky to be able to vote for the president. I would give him time until his term ends. We must be responsible for what we vote for.”

Pique was also asked for some insight into what the players must be thinking right now.

“The players know that they are in a club where things can change, and if the coach changes, they will adapt and have the hope of wanting to like the new coach,” he added.

The former defender has long been tipped to be a future president at Barcelona and has said he feels he could have a “big impact” if he returned to the club.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are set to play again on Sunday in La Liga against Rayo and we should hear from Xavi ahead of the match at Montjuic.
