General Hospital’s Johnny Wactor Killed in Shooting

Johnny Wactor was shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles Saturday. On Memorial Day, more details about his death have emerged.

May 26, 2024: According to KTLA, Wactor was shot during an attempted catalytic converter robbery. “Police said the man saw three men stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle. When he confronted them, they turned around and shot him,” they wrote. TMZ reports that police have not released a description of the suspects.

Wactor played Brando Corbin on General Hospital for over 160 episodes. He started his TV career on Army Wives for Lifetime. Aside from his recurring role on General Hospital, he appeared in such shows as Westworld, The OA, Station 19, and NCIS. He is survived by his mother, Scarlett, and brothers, Lance and Grant. He was 37.

May 27, 2024: Wactor was reportedly shot while protecting his coworker. His brother, Grant, told the Daily Mail that Wactor died after getting off a bartending shift in DTLA. He was escorting a female coworker to her car when he spotted the robbery in progress. At first, he thought his car was getting towed. Wactor approached the scene, hoping to talk his way out of the tow, when one man pulled a gun. “And then once he turned around, he saw what was happening and he put his coworker behind him,” Grant said. “And that’s when they shot him.”
