When it comes to the summer in Mississippi, it’s typically a perfect time to pack a bag, put the family dog in the car and let rubber meet the road for a few hundred miles.
To that end, Mississippi is home to plenty of amazing destination spots for folks to stay. However, finding the perfect, or rather, the most interesting place to sleep and enjoy your morning coffee might not be so easy.
So, the Clarion Ledger has compiled a list of some of the best Airbnbs to stay in this summer in some of the most interesting places throughout the state, according to Roadaffair.com, a travel advisory website.
Ocean Springs
When it comes to Mississippi travelling, a trip down to the coast for beaches and family fun should never be ignored.
If you are looking at Ocean Springs, you might want to check out the Bottle Brush on Bowen, a pet friendly three-bedroom house just 10 minutes away from Ocean Springs Beach.
The house is also nestled into a quiet neighborhood and with downtown so close, shopping and sight-seeing aren’t far at all, according to the Airbnb listing.

Bruce Mississippi
If the thought of sand in your shoes steers you away from the coast, you may find yourself longing for a shaded trail through the Mississippi hill country.
If that is the case, you may want to check out this interesting cabin near Bruce.
This cabin features six bedrooms and two bathrooms and is tucked away into the country about 30 miles away from Oxford, home to the University of Mississippi.
As for the nature aspect, the cabin is located next to a small lake, and features 2 miles of hiking trail and the opportunity for fishing, canoeing and other activities.

Lake Retreat in Hernando
As far as scenic sites are concerned, Mississippi has never lacked a relaxing lakeside view.
You can find a country lake house just a few miles outside of Hernando.
If you are looking to play golf, go shopping or try your luck, the house is only 15 minutes from Tunica Expo, five minutes to Tunica National Golf Course, 10 Minutes to the casinos, 38 minutes to Beale St, Bass Pro Shop, Peabody Hotel, Graceland and the Lorraine Hotel.

Adult only retreat near Gloster
As far as remote getaways are concerned, something for just you and your partner or a small group of friends should never skipped on your getaway list.
In Gloster, you might just find a small cabin for two to four guests right next to one of Mississippi’s national forests.
The house is surrounded by Homochitto National Forest, offering people who stay access to hiking trails, sandy riverbanks and an abundance of wildlife. There are also plenty of mountain biking trails nearby for those looking to ride.
As for indoor entertainment, you might want to bring a book as there is no wi-fi there.

The Delta
When it comes to enjoying some wide open space, look no further than a stay in the Mississippi Delta.
On a bucolic farm in Shaw, guests could get the Delta experience from the comfort of a one-bedroom one-bath cottage.
Here, guests can enjoy Blues trails, a swimming pool horseback riding and even a tennis court. If you do choose to stay here, you should know it is a working farm.
