“Reports of a shooting are unfounded,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a post on X.
An alleged shooting incident at Las Vegas’ Fashion Show Mall Monday evening, as per eyewitness reports, prompted a large police presence inside the shopping center. Several people on social sites claimed that they saw several armed LV Police officials headed to the El Segundo Sol restaurant amid an active shooter situation. They also shared pictures of a helicopter flying over the area in the LV Strip, amid evacuations and a temporary lockdown being imposed. It is to be added that law enforcement agencies have not confirmed gunfire taking place in Paradise.
Those claiming to be eyewitnesses of the alleged incident posted about the shooting at the LV shopping center on social media. Among the several reactions, a user wrote on X, “Possible Active shooter @fashionshowmall in @lasvegasstrip .. Cops surrounding the corner of LV Blvd and Fashion Show Mall Blvd.”
“…we are at El Segundo Del Sol at fashion show mall. Police just showed up with assault rifles and the restaurant has locked the front doors and keeping us all inside,” another user added.
The Las Vegas Police is soon going to release an official statement on the matter, according to local media reports. The residents kept claiming that the shopping center was evacuated at around 6:30 pm (GMT-7). It was not clear if the reported active shooter was contained.
A user remarked on Facebook, “I just heard there is a active shooter situation at the fashion show mall please be careful peeps.”
