Fairfield announces new adult outdoor fitness center
Fairfield officials held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new outdoor fitness center.
The new fitness center was funded through the state’s Senior Center American Rescue Plan Act and a state grant for Fairfield Seniors.
The outdoor center has full strength, agility and conditioning equipment.
The equipment is also tailored for those with disabilities or physical limitations.
Fairfield officials said the goal of the fitness center is to reconnect the senior population while promoting physical activity.
“The goal was to do some kind of project that helped get seniors back outside, taking part in activities or improve the life of seniors who were so impacted by isolation and loneliness during the pandemic,” said Fairfield’s Human and Social Services director Julia DeMarco.
The Fitness Center can be accessed via Old Field Road.
