Experts predict the busiest Memorial Day travel since pre-pandemic
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Experts are predicting this Memorial Day weekend to be the most traveled since 2019.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported 2.9 million people at U.S airports on Thursday, May 23, recorded as the second busiest day ever at US airports.
When it comes to the roads, it is expected to be much of the same.
American Automobile Association (AAA) projected 44 million people to travel this holiday weekend, marking the highest number of travelers, post pandemic.
“Always be defensive when you’re driving,” said Sr. Trooper Kendra McKinney, with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). “Expect the unexpected, because it only takes that one second that you could just be running to the store and you decide not to put your seatbelt on. That can be the situation where you’re involved in a traffic crash and it could cost you your life.”
