EōS Fitness upgrading and expanding its indoor-outdoor facilities
EōS Fitness San Diego in Midway has undergone a recent expansion and upgrade of its facilities indoors and out including adding a new “Cryo Lounge” offering members innovative recovery options.
Once a Gold’s Gym, the Midway EōS at 3156 Sports Arena Blvd. offering both indoor and outdoor workout areas was one of 16 gyms that were acquired and re-branded by the company in 2015. EōS was busy during the pandemic in 2022, replacing its locker rooms and putting in two new pools and a dry sauna. Now, the fitness facility has gone further in modernizing, upgrading, and expanding its indoor-outdoor facilities enhancing their look, functionality, and appeal.
To catch up with the fitness company and find out about its latest improvements, the San Diego Community Newspaper Group held a Q&A with Jennifer Gregory, regional vice president of operations for California for EōS Fitness.
SDCNG: Why don’t you tell us a little about EōS’ background in Midway? How long have you been there? What did you need to do to convert the space into an EōS?
EōS: We opened the Sports Arena location in 2015, transforming the interior and exterior with an intentional layout for efficient and effective workouts. We created a welcoming environment designed with all fitness practitioners in mind. We added cutting-edge equipment and machines, premium strength training options, dumbbells up to 150 pounds, and tons of EōS signature amenities.
SDCNG: What distinguishes EōS from other fitness facilities?
EōS: EōS embraces the Southern California fitness community and supports exercise practitioners at any level. EōS is an industry leader with its high-value, low-price (HVLP) gyms. We offer high-end strength training equipment, high-energy workout classes, and personal training expertise, all at an affordable price. Our full-service gyms feature serious fitness options, including an abundance of Olympic lifting platforms, cardio equipment, innovative recovery options, and signature amenities and fitness programming.
SDCNG: There have been a few changes at the Midway EōS. You folks just put in a new “cryo room,” tell us about that and what its purpose is.
EōS: The Tank at EōS San Diego: Sports Arena is one of our newest amenities, offering members several innovative recovery options, including percussion massagers, compression boots, and stretch tables. Additionally, this space includes added recovery features like our CryoLounge+ loungers, offering a unique recovery experience that targets specific areas of the body with cooling and heating zones to soothe achy muscles and reduce inflammation, soreness, and swelling. There are also Human Touch massage chairs for anyone seeking relaxing recovery before or after a tough sweat session. At EōS, we recognize the importance of rest days and focusing on recovery as part of our members’ total fitness journey.
SDCNG: Tell us about your previous remodel and the changes that were made. You folks put in new pools and locker rooms. Anything else?
EōS: Our previous remodel included a total renovation of both locker rooms and added brand-new amenities, including saunas, a private personal training space designed to support one-on-one fitness instruction, a group fitness studio, new strength training machines, and The Backyard, a unique outdoor workout area. The Backyard at EōS San Diego: Sports Arena is loved by our members for its spacious layout with several strength training machines, multiple lifting platforms, and a range of free weights.
SDCNG: We know you have a workout room that shows movies inside. Tell us about that.
EōS: MOVEōS Cinema is a cutting-edge cardio theater that is transforming how we think about cardio workouts. It’s like stepping into a movie theater, but instead of popcorn, there are treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals. You can get lost in a film while powering through an intense cardio session.
SDCNG: What is this most recent renovation that you have going on?
EōS: We are making upgrades to the existing Cycle Studio, Rack Room, and The Backyard. The Cycle Studio and Rack Room renovations include new flooring, paint, and wall coverings. We’re also remodeling the restrooms. In The Backyard, we removed the old floor and added rubberized flooring and outdoor turf. EōS is constantly reinvesting in its existing gyms, adding premium features and amenities. With these latest upgrades, we are thrilled to continue elevating the member experience at our San Diego Sports Arena location.
SDCNG: Are you getting in new equipment? Expanding your outside areas? Changing anything inside?
EōS: We have completely updated the restrooms, Cycle Studio, Rack Room, and The Backyard. We’re also upgrading our squat racks and adding brand-new Olympic lifting platforms.
SDCNG: How many members does Midway EōS have now?
EōS: While we don’t share our membership numbers, we can say that thousands of people check in and workout in our gyms every single day.
SDCNG: Tell us about your indoor and swim classes.
EōS: EōS offers a wide variety of 60-plus weekly group fitness and cycle classes catering to all fitness levels and interests. Whether you’re seeking to build strength and core stability or find a mind-body connection through stretching and movement, we have the perfect classes for you. You can dive into the rhythm with dance fitness options or crank up the intensity with group cycling, all while enjoying the encouragement and support of your fellow fitness enthusiasts. For a low-impact workout, our water fitness classes are perfect for building strength and endurance without adding stress to your joints. From heart-pumping Zumba and high-intensity BodyAttack classes to a zen yoga session, group fitness is a great way to mix up your workouts and build your fitness community.
SDCNG: When will you be finished with your improvements?
EōS: We have just a few final touches before all the new spaces will be ready for members to enjoy.
