Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission featured in Sustainable Travel: Where Next? – Shore Daily News

The Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission announced today that they are featured in Sustainable Travel: Where Next?. Launched in 2022 by Sustainable Travel International, this docu-series sends viewers on a journey around the globe, showcasing inspiring initiatives that are transforming tourism’s impact in destinations around the world. Sustainable Travel International released four new episodes of season two in honor of World Environment Day.

The short-form documentary films explore solutions that mitigate the damaging effects of tourism, like carbon emissions and beach litter. They tell stories of how destinations are impacted by climate change and showcase their efforts to bolster resilience.

The series includes an episode focused entirely on the Eastern Shore’s sustainability efforts to protect our shoreline and our natural resources.

“There’s nowhere quite like the Eastern Shore and it’s incredible to see the passion and dedication poured into conservation efforts here.” Said Emily Machen, the Eastern Shore Tourism Commission’s Director of Marketing, “There’s an incredible sense of pride in this place and a great love for the community.”

“While sustainable tourism is a growing industry, many travelers have trouble conceptualizing what it really means. This series provides real-world examples to help travelers and tourism professionals better understand why sustainability in tourism is so important,” said Paloma Zapata, CEO of Sustainable Travel International. “We are excited to release new episodes of the series to share more success stories with travel lovers around the world.”

Sustainable Travel: Where Next? is produced by Zinc Media Group, an award-winning content creation company honored as Production Company of The Year at the 2024 New York TV & Film Festival.

With the release of Season 2 Part 2, the full series now includes a total of 26 episodes. Destinations and organizations featured in the series include Australia, Barbados, Coulibri Ridge, Denmark, Edmonton (Canada), Isle of Man, Laguna Beach (California, USA), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Oslo (Norway), Park City (Utah, USA), Six Senses, Skåne (Sweden), Sonoma County (California, USA), South Western Railway, St. Kitts, Sustainable Travel International, Svalbard (Norway), Vail (Colorado, USA), Victoria (Canada), YHA Australia, Austria, Galveston (Texas, USA), Greater Palm Springs (California, USA), and The Eastern Shore of Virginia (Virginia, USA). Since its launch in 2022, Sustainable Travel: Where Next? has reached more than 200,000 viewers.

To mitigate the environmental impact of the film, Zinc Media Group will once again be offsetting emissions generated by the film production and investing in climate action by supporting Sustainable Travel International’s Climate Impact Portfolio. This includes a diverse mix of forestry, renewable energy, blue carbon, and innovative climate tech projects that reduce and remove carbon emissions around the world.
