DIY win the WWE tag team titles

This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown largely centered around build to Money in the Bank, but the main event was dedicated to DIY challenging A Town Down Under for the WWE tag team championship. They made sure to remind us throughout the show that Toronto is a special place for Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.

They won the NXT tag team titles there.

Gargano returned to WWE there.

And now they’ve made yet another memory there.

Indeed, after a match that was showered with “this is awesome” chants, Gargano & Ciampa pulled off a duel submission win over Austin Theory & Grayson Waller to become the new WWE tag team champions. For what it’s worth, they didn’t go with a breakup angle for Theory and Waller. In fact, Theory continually bailed Waller out, doing his best to keep the titles on their side.

In the end, it wasn’t enough.
