“Destroying Gym Equipment”: Netizen Doing Baseball Drills in Gym Leaves Fitness World Flabbergasted

Bodybuilding veteran Greg Doucette shared a video of a man performing a bizarre exercise in the gym. While the various gym equipment are designed to help people perform different exercises, the man in the video took a baseball bat to a functional trainer machine. The fitness influencer hooked up his bat to one of the cables and then practiced his swing, with weights.

However, you may be wondering how you could hook up a baseball with a cable. The fan in the video had drilled a hole at the top of the bat and attached a hook to it. The video showed him walking up to the cable and putting the hook through the carabiner at the end of the cable. The carabiners at the end of the cable are there so you could swap in different handles.

Instead, the man ingeniously used the feature to hook up the baseball bat. The fitness influencer also adjusted the pulley system so that he could swing the baseball bat properly while it was hooked up to the functional trainer. Gymgoers use the functional trainer’s cable to train in a plethora of bodybuilding and functional exercises because they provide force at all angles.

So he was having quite a hard time swinging the bat under constant load. All in all the video captured a bizarre sight to behold. A man in gym clothes and sunglasses practicing weighted swings with an actual baseball bat. Greg Doucette could not help but ask, “Should people do this in the gym?” Although some in the fitness community were appalled others didn’t mind the bizarre exercise.

The fitness community was surprisingly receptive

One follower commented that the man was “Destroying gym equipment,” with his shenanigans. Another held the opposite opinion. “Doesn’t look like it’s damaging the machine or negatively affecting anyone else, so sure.” commented one follower. However, another fitness enthusiast questions the intention behind the video. “The dude is doing it for views,” he commented.

“Chasing viral viewership is getting ridiculous,” added the fan. However, others said while it may look ridiculous, the man was on to something. “That will help though… Sequence of muscle activation and strength at different points of that activation. It’s why boxers use resisted punching and not bench to punch harder,” commented a fan. “This is actually a good exercise for a baseball player. I see nothing wrong,” wrote another fan in agreement.

While the fitness community is usually not receptive to shenanigans that disrupt others in the gym, many didn’t seem to mind. Some even even saw it as an effective exercise. However, a sense of surprise was something everyone shared in common.
