CTDI to expand at River Ridge, add 650 jobs – Inside INdiana Business

Pennsylvania-based Communications Test Design Inc. or CTDI, is expanding its footprint in southern Indiana. The company plans to invest $26 million to open a new location at the River Ridge Commerce Center in Charlestown and create 650 jobs.

CTDI provides engineering, repair and logistics services for customers in the communications industry, including telecommunication carriers, cable service providers and original equipment manufacturers.

The company said the expansion is the result of a growing customer base.

“Southern Indiana is the perfect location for CTDI to find continued success,” CTDI General Manager of Real Estate Toby Booker said. “The surrounding areas have proven to be a great area for technology companies, and we look forward to building our workforce with steady, good paying positions.

A news release from One Southern Indiana, the chamber of commerce and economic development organization for Clark and Floyd counties, did not specify what type of work will be performed at the new location.

It was also not clear if CTDI will be building a brand new facility or occupying an existing building at the business park. The company’s operations will be located at at 1651 Penny Martin Lane at Rive Ridge.

Inside INdiana Business reached out to the company for more information on Thursday but did not receive a response.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered CTDI up to $4.75 million in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs.

“Communications and related infrastructure and capacity will continue to be critical to our economy, and having a global communications leader in Southern Indiana is very exciting,” 1si President and CEO Lance Allison said in the release. “Additionally, CTDI’s commitment to the community and local economy will have returns to our community for years to come.” 

The announcement comes nearly three years after CTDI detailed plans to invest nearly $20 million to open a facility on the Jeffersonville side of River Ridge and create 1,000 jobs. The company also has operations in South Bend.

“We are excited for CTDI’s continued growth at River Ridge, and their commitment to the Southern Indiana region,” said River Ridge Development Authority Executive Director Jerry Acy. “CTDI‘s expansion further demonstrates the competitive advantages companies gain by doing business at River Ridge and highlights Southern Indiana’s growing reputation as the place to be within the tech community.” 

CTDI employs more than 20,000 people worldwide, including about 1,000 in Indiana, according to the IEDC.
