Company already looking to sell Kunzler plant: ‘Jobs may be impacted’

LANCASTER, Pa. (WTAJ) — Clemens Food Group, the company that acquired Kunzler, is already looking to sell the Lancaster plant after moving various production out of central Pennsylvania.

In a letter to employees that WTAJ received, Kunzler announced they are actively pursuing the sale of the Lancaster location. In addition, the company announced that after a thorough review of operations, some production is being moved from the Lancaster facility to their newly built facility in Hatfield, Montgomery County.

In their letter sent to WTAJ, the company added “Jobs may be impacted.”

“Jobs may be impacted by the changes noted above, but it is premature to calculate the total impact on employment at this time, as we are working on these moves in tandem with identifying a buyer for the Lancaster facility,” Stephanie Simon, Senior Manager of Communications said in the release.

As for the production, the company told employees that the smoked meats division will be moved to their Hatfield facility, however, a large amount of franks production will remain in Lancaster while they continue to pursue a sale.

At this time, the company did not mention any effects on the Tyrone facilities.
