Columbia’s newest McDonald’s highlights growth in Battle Crossing shopping center | 93.9 The Eagle
Construction is underway on Columbia’s sixth McDonald’s and its second on busy Clark lane, north of I-70.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week, and the new restaurant is expected to open this fall. It is being built near Schnucks and Club Car Wash in the Battle Crossing shopping center.
Our news partner KMIZ reports McDonald’s expects to hire more than 100 employees for the new location. The current McDonald’s on Clark lane, next to Kentucky Fried Chicken, will not close, according to KMIZ.
Then-Columbia Mayor Brian Treece helped cut the ribbon at Schnucks’ opening at Battle Crossing in March 2022. He predicted that the new Schnucks would be a great anchor development that will be catalytic for the entire area north of I-70. Mr. Treece emphasized the grocery store’s importance to the area that day:
“We already know there is new housing going in around the new Battle elementary and Battle high school. This grocery store is going to serve them but more importantly, the pad sites that are created because of this redevelopment are going to attract other amenities that are going to serve this neighborhood,” Mayor Treece told 939 the Eagle that day.
The Schnucks store at Battle Crossing includes a CVS pharmacy. Since the mayor spoke that day, Club Car Wash and Love coffee cake have opened. Construction workers are currently working at the McDonald’s site.
