Cody Rhodes came to NXT with an interesting message for these former AEW guys

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made a special appearance on this week’s episode of NXT.

Cody was primarily there to announce the (cross-promotional?) 25-man Battle Royal that will determine Trick Williams’ next challenger for the NXT Championship at NXT Heatwave on Sunday, July 7.

Before Cody left the building, though, he ran into a trio of former AEW guys who didn’t fare so well in All Elite Wrestling. Ethan Page, Shawn Spears, and Lexis King (fka Brian Pillman Jr.) all told Cody that they plan to win next week’s Battle Royal, and they seemed to be seeking Rhodes’ approval.

Cody took a moment to think about it, and responded with a line that some folks are interpreting as a shot at AEW:

“Seems like you guys are… in a good place.”
