Clarion Travel Plaza Opening Delayed, Staged Opening to Begin with Dunkin’ – exploreClarion

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The much-anticipated opening of the Clarion Travel Plaza in Monroe Township has been postponed. Initially slated for July 10, the plaza will now open in stages, according to a representative from GJAMS Clarion Holdings, LLC.

The representative revealed that the first establishment to open will be Dunkin’, with other food court restaurants, including Sbarro, Fatburger, Jimmy John’s, and Tikka Shack, to follow. The convenience store and fuel station are expected to be fully operational in August.

Situated at Trinity Point along State Route 68, just off Interstate 80 Exit 62, the Clarion Travel Plaza has been making significant strides in its construction. Last month, signage for the travel plaza and the various restaurants was installed, marking visible progress toward its completion.

The underground work for the fuel stations has been completed, and crews are now concentrating on the installation of pumps, dispensers, and canopies. Current on-site activities include painting, setting up information technology systems, and finishing the asphalt paving. Workers in Dunkin’ uniforms have also been spotted preparing the kitchen for the upcoming opening.

The plaza is actively recruiting staff, with job postings on Indeed.com for Store Associates, offering hourly wages between $15 and $17. The Clarion Travel Plaza aims to employ approximately 40 people, half of whom will hold full-time positions.

Initially, the plaza will operate from 4:00 a.m. to midnight, with plans to transition to 24/7 operations in the future, said Project Manager Ang Sandoo last December.

The project has been over three years in the making, primarily delayed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s refusal to permit a left-turn entrance from State Route 68, according to a company representative. Construction began during the week of December 26, 2022.

Besides the Clarion Travel Plaza, a second development is underway near Interstate 80 Exit 62. This new plaza, on the site of the former Ramada Inn, will feature a Sheetz and two proposed chain restaurants. This project remains in the early stages of development.
