Christopher Esber has been named the Grand Prize winner of the 2024 ANDAM Fashion Award. The win for the Syndey-based designer marks the 35th anniversary edition of the prestigious prize, with Esber gaining recognition for his minimalist summer styles favored by celebrities like Zendaya and Dua Lipa.
France continues to attract talents from around the world thanks to its dynamism, creativity, and exceptional know-how. I want to congratulate the five winners of this edition, chosen by a jury composed of creatives and professionals. The ANDAM Fashion Awards show once again that fashion is not only an industry, but an art. I’d like to thank ANDAM which has, for 35 years, offered invaluable support and visibility to the talents of tomorrow.
– Rachida Dati, French Minister of Culture
Esber received a cash award of 300,000 euros and mentorship from jury president Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Saint Laurent. Esber’s victory comes less than a year after his debut at Paris Fashion Week.
ANDAM once again demonstrates its ability to unite all the vital forces of fashion and culture around its creative and industrial project. The talents that have turned to us for several decades prove the resonance of our collective action with all partners and patrons, both public and private. ANDAM is a force for change and stability in a world that often needs it. The trust shown to us by Anthony Vaccarello, winner of the ANDAM Grand Prize in 2011 and now Jury President, is the ultimate guarantee of what we create: an ecosystem capable of regenerating itself.
– Guillaume Houzé, Andam’s President
The other finalists for the prize were Meryll Rogge, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, Ruohan, and Charles Jeffrey Loverboy.
The Special Prize and its 100,000-euro purse were awarded to 3.Paradis, a genderless label founded by French designer Emeric Tchatchoua based in Canada. Additional honors included the accessories prize going to Maeden and the innovation prize to Alternative Innovation.
Blackpink’s Rosé, a guest juror, expressed her excitement, stating, “As a fellow creative, I am thrilled to hear the stories and see the innovative visions. I look forward to the remarkable contributions these designers will bring to the fashion industry.”
