Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring features typo inside band

The Kansas City Chiefs commemorated their Super Bowl LVIII win with a blinged out ring featuring hundreds of diamonds and 38 custom-cut rubies, but a typo engraved inside the white gold band caught fans’ attention more than the sparkle on top.

The interior of the ring features the seedings of the Chiefs’ four postseason opponents and the final score of those victories over the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Dolphins are listed as a seven seed when Miami was actually the sixth seed entering that playoff matchup.

Chiefs players received their rings Thursday during a ceremony at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City.

Jostens, the company that designed the rings, did not immediately reply to a request for comment. The Chiefs confirmed there is an error inside the rings.

The Los Angeles Lakers faced a similar snafu earlier this year when fans noticed that a Kobe Bryant statue unveiled on Feb. 8 to honor the Los Angeles Lakers legend outside Crypto.com Arena had four typos in the box score on the marble base of the statue. In that case, former Lakers guard Von Wafer’s name was misspelled as “Vom Wafer.” Former Toronto Raptors guard José Calderón’s name was incorrectly spelled as “Jose Calderson.” And the word “decision” was wrongly spelled twice in “Coach’s Decision,” misspelled as “decicion.” The statue was corrected in April.
