Boston sure knows how to take advantage of its limited warm weather days. The city has outdoor activities galore this time of year, including free fitness classes. Bring your yoga mat to the Seaport Common, the Greenway, the Frog Pond, and other parks for various classes taking place daily this summer. Read on for details about what’s being offered, where the classes are located, and how to sign up.

May 1 — Sept. 28

Seaport Sweat, Boston’s biggest free fitness series, returns for its ninth season this summer. The classes kicked off on May 1 on Seaport Common and continue through Sept. 28. This year’s series features both returning and new instructors, holding classes like pilates on Mondays, yoga on Tuesdays, power sculpt on Wednesdays, Zumba on Thursdays, and some branded classes such as Broncore Bootcamp (with local instructors) on select weekends. Check out the full schedule and reserve a spot on Eventbrite.

May 3 — Sept. 27

Seaport Sweat brings a new series to the neighborhood this summer — Stretch and the City. Taught by instructor Therlande Louissaint, the class takes place Fridays at noon from May 3 through Sept. 27 at the Summer Street steps (400 Summer St.) and blends slow, yoga-like stretching with heart-pounding cardio.

May 5 — August 31

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department holds its annual fitness series in parks around Boston and beyond this summer, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield. From May 5 through Aug. 31, folks can find outdoor fitness classes every day of the week from Southie to Charlestown to Roslindale. A few highlights include Kick It by Eliza on Mondays at 6 p.m. on Brighton Common, Zumba on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at JP’s Mozart Street Playground, and yoga by the Frog Pond on Thursdays, which is also at 6 p.m. Classes are free, but registration is required.

June 3 — Nov. 10

Blue Cross Blue Shield also sponsors the 10th season of the Greenway Fitness Program, bringing over 200 free fitness classes to the Rose Kennedy Greenway this summer and fall between June 3 and Nov. 10. Classes include yoga, pilates, and dance, and the season kicks off with its “Workout with The Greenway Fair” on Thursday, June 13, from 4 to 8 p.m., during which visitors can meet fitness instructors and try a class or two.
