EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Health put out a warning on Monday that Snapchill LLC is recalling dozens of canned coffee products because they may not be safe for consumption.

Health officials said the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found that Snapchill’s manufacturing process could lead to the growth and production of botulinum toxin.

Botulism is a form a food poisoning that could cause symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, difficulty breathing, trouble speaking or swallowing, difficulty breathing, abdominal distension and constipation, according to the Health Department. Symptoms can begin anywhere from six hours to two weeks after eating contaminated food.

No illnesses associated with this recall have been reported to date.

The recalled products were sold nationwide under a variety of different brand names. The FDA has posted a full list of affected products, all of which have “Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC” printed beneath the nutrition facts panel.

The Health Department said consumers should destroy the recalled coffee or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Anyone with questions can contact the company at (920) 632-6018 during standard business hours or by email at compliance@snapchill.com.
