Bucks agree to sign free-agent forward Taurean Prince

The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a free-agent contract with veteran forward Taurean Prince, the Journal Sentinel learned via a league source.
Prince, 30, was originally a first-round pick of the Utah Jazz in 2016 but was immediately traded to Atlanta.
The 6-foot, 6-inch Prince played three seasons with the Hawks before being dealt to Brooklyn before the 2019-20 season. He split the 2020-21 season between the Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers before spending two seasons in Minnesota (2021-23) and last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and current Bucks assistant Darvin Ham.
In his eight-year career Prince is a 37.6% shooter from behind the three-point line, and making at least 39% on three different occasions. He averaged a career-best 14.1 points per game for Atlanta in 2017-18 when he started 92 games. He’s been primarily a reserve since 2020-21.
Prince has appeared in 21 postseason games in Atlanta, Minnesota and Los Angeles, making 31.8% of his threes.
The Bucks have entered the 2024 free agency period as a team with limited flexibility regarding their roster, as general manager Jon Horst and assistant general manager Milt Newton said it is their intention to sign and roster draft picks AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith.
Barring any trades – the team can still deal the rights to the picks until they’re signed – the Bucks have begun free agency with just three roster spots available to fill. And, as a club operating under the second apron restriction, they can only sign players to minimum contracts.
The team has already agreed to a free-agent deal with veteran point guard Delon Wright.
