WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden on Tuesday slammed former President Donald Trump’s use of the term “Black jobs” during their debate last month as he gave an impassioned speech to the NAACP.

Speaking in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the organization’s national convention, Biden made a pitch to Black voters in an effort to secure their vote as support for his reelection campaign has sagged.

Biden during his speech hit Trump for comments he made at the June 27 presidential debate, where he said that migrants were taking “Black jobs” and “Hispanic jobs” away from Americans.

“Folks, I know what the hell a ‘Black job’ is — it’s the vice president of the United States,” he said to loud cheers, speaking about Vice President Kamala Harris. “I know what a ‘Black job’ is. The first Black president in American history, Barack Obama.”

A chant of “four more years, four more years” broke out following his comments.

Biden added that he also nominated the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson.

“I promised myself, I promised America, that my administration would look like America,” he said.

Biden during his remarks highlighted how unemployment rate for Black Americans is at its lowest, how his administration has invested $16 billion to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and how he is going to cut taxes for working class Americans.

During his remarks, he also announced that his administration is working to cap rent increases by 5%. But while reading the teleprompter, he misspoke saying his administration is working to cap rent raises by $55.

While Biden is still leading with Black voters in polling, his support is eroding slightly. He still holds a wide lead with Black voters over Trump.

Biden is facing continued pressure by some members of his own party to step aside in the 2024 race. However, during his remarks, the president told the crowd that he is “all in.”

But he did note that Harris would do a great job as commander-in-chief.

“And by the way, she’s not only a great vice president, she could be president of the United States,” Biden said.
