Angelina Jolie debuts new chest tattoo on 2024 Tony Awards red carpet
She’s flying high on Broadway.
Angelina Jolie showed off a new tattoo at the 2024 Tony Awards, debuting a tiny black bird in the center of her chest as she posed on the red carpet in NYC.
The 49-year-old A-lister coordinated with her daughter Vivienne, 15, in teal as she revealed the fresh ink, which may hold an especially touching meaning.
The tattoo features a black outline of a swallow, which symbolizes loyalty and homecoming, as the bird’s migration patterns always lead them back to the same place.
One fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) thinks Jolie’s 18-year-old daughter, Shiloh — who recently filed to have “Pitt” dropped from her last name — sports a matching bird design, with the social media user sharing side-by-side photos of what could be Shiloh’s arm next to an image of her mom on the red carpet.
However, if Shiloh does indeed have some ink, it’s likely also new as the teenager didn’t appear to have any tats in a video posted earlier this year.
The bird must have been her good luck charm, as the “Maleficent” actress brought home her first Tony for producing “The Outsiders,” with the musical nominated for a whopping 12 awards and winning four.
For her big night, Jolie wore a strapless teal velvet Atelier Versace gown that dipped down at the bustline to put her new bird-in-flight tat front and center.
She covered up with a matching wrap, carrying a gold clutch and accessorizing with a chunky gold bangle bracelet.
Meanwhile, Vivienne, who served as a production assistant on “The Outsiders,” matched with mom in a teal vest and trousers along with a white dress shirt.
She finished off her look with a teal bow tie and comfy Converse sneakers.
As for the “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” star, her new bird design joins a bevvy of other tattoos, including writing on her shoulder and a massive back piece she had done in Thailand featuring Buddhist meanings for love, peace and prosperity.
The star also got a tattoo to commemorate “The Outsiders,” debuting an arm design reading “Stay Gold” — a reference to the book — during the musical’s opening night.
No doubt she’s “staying gold” with her multiple Tony wins Sunday night.
