Amazon Prime Day 2024 starts Tuesday: 4 things to know before you shop
Amazon Prime Day officially kicks off on Tuesday — offering millions of deals worldwide to Prime members for 48 hours.
The e-giant is offering must-have deals across all categories, like electronics, devices, toys, fashion, beauty and home — from top national brands, Amazon brands and small businesses.
On the East Coast, the shopping event begins on Tuesday, July 16, at 3 a.m. and ends Thursday at 2:59 a.m.
Here’s what to know before you shop.
Amazon’s annual Prime Day delivers Prime members thousands of deals across every category, like fashion, home, beauty, electronics and other items. It will also feature the best in entertainment benefits and exclusives across Prime Video, Amazon Music, Prime Gaming and more.
It allows Prime members to get exclusive access to the retailer’s lowest prices on select products from a variety of brands.
“Prime Day is a celebration of the value we bring to members all year long, and features millions of deals across more than 35 product categories as well as discounts on Amazon devices, quality entertainment, groceries, travel, and more during the event,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime. “In fact, over the course of last year, Amazon customers saved nearly $24 billion from deals and coupons — with Prime members enjoying the vast majority of those savings — including over $2.5 billion during Prime Day 2023.”
New deals will drop as often as every five minutes during select periods throughout the event, so members can come back and shop often to find what they want. Invite-only deals are also back this year, which means Prime members can request an invitation to exclusive deals that are expected to sell out.
Like years prior, consumers need to be a Prime member to cash in on the savings. If you’re not a Prime member yet, anyone can join and start a 30-day free trial at amazon.com/primeday to participate in Prime Day, get access to fast and free shipping, and enjoy entertainment benefits, like Prime Video, Prime Music and more.
Prime members pay an annual membership rate of $139 per year, or $14.99 per month. Prime student members pay $69 per year, or $7.49 per month. EBT and Medicaid recipients can snag a monthly rate of $6.99.
