Albany man charged in bomb threats to St. Pius Church, Planet Fitness

A 28-year-old Albany man has been arrested for allegedly making bomb threats to St. Pius X Church and Planet Fitness.

Joshua B. Campbell is accused of leaving a message saying that there were explosives planted at the church at 75 Upper Loudon Road, Colonie Police said.

Officers responded and thoroughly both searched the church and the school and found nothing. Additional police were stationed at the school out of an abundance of caution.

Campbell also allegedly made a similar threat to the Planet Fitness at 475 Albany Shaker Road. No explosives were found there.

Both calls originated from the same phone number, police said.

Campbell was arrested on Monday at around 3:15 p.m. with the assistance of the Albany Police Department.

No bombmaking materials or explosives were found at his residence. There also was no evidence that he took any actions to carry out the threats.

Campbell was charged with two counts of making a terroristic threat. He was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and held on $30,000 cash bail pending a preliminary hearing.
