Alamo Drafthouse closes all D-FW locations. Here’s why and what to do with unused tickets

The Alamo Drafthouse franchise partner who operated all five Dallas-Fort Worth locations filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, according to the cinema company.

A franchise operator for Alamo Drafthouse abruptly announced the closure of all five theater locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Thursday.

According to the cinema company, the franchise partner — Two Is One, One is None LLC — that operated all those North Texas theaters filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and immediately closed the locations, which included:

  • Cedars
  • Denton
  • Lake Highlands
  • Las Colinas
  • Richardson

“This means that for the time being all of the DFW area Alamo Drafthouses will be closed,” the Austin-based company wrote on its website. “Rest assured that we are hard at work coming up with a solution to get Alamo Drafthouse back in DFW.

“Thanks for being the best damn guests a little cinema company could ever ask for – we’ll see you at the movies again as soon as we can,” the website added.

No other Alamo Drafthouse locations in Texas are affected.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the Two Is One, One is None LLC franchise partner had cited poor “industry-wide economic performance” in a press release Thursday about the closures.
