Acutronic to bring 50-plus jobs to Bastrop with state’s first jet engine factory
Acutronic, a company that specializes in aerospace, defense and transportation technology, will bring Texas’ first jet engine manufacturing facility to Bastrop—along with at least 50 full-time jobs, the company announced June 25.
The gist
Following the approval from Bastrop City Council in September, Acutronic signed an agreement with Bastrop Economic Development Corporation to build the facility at the Bastrop Business and Industrial Park.
The details
According to the agreement, the site will be at least 20,000 square feet on the 13.84-acre parcel—which the company bought for $1.89 million. The performance agreement states that Acutronic will receive that same amount in incentives if officials adhere to the stipulations.
Those stipulations include:
- Hiring at least 50 full-time employees within the first five years
- Paying an average salary for full-time employees no less than $56,240
- Starting construction within four months of a shovel-ready site
- Moving into the site within 32 months from the start of construction
Acutronic also agreed to bring at least $4 million in capital investment to the area.
What else?
Additionally, the company plans to launch an apprenticeship program with Bastrop Independent School District students, offering training and mentorship in the manufacturing industry through the district’s Pathways In Technology Early College High School.
“Acutronic had an interest in meeting with the [Economic Development Corporation] in the city, and we were invited to come just talk about the educational space and what Bastrop ISD has to offer,” Amanda Brantley, director of college, career and military readiness, told Community Impact in November. “[Acutronic] saw value in what it was that we were already trying to offer our students and thought that we would be able to partner well.”
One more thing
Although no start date for construction is set, the agreement indicates the site should be ready for Acutronic to begin construction no later than Dec. 31, 2025.
What they’re saying
“This investment is a natural progression for us,” said Acutronic CEO Florian Aigrain in a news release. “Expanding our footprint in the region will augment Austin’s advanced manufacturing and aerospace leadership through the design and production of cutting-edge products in support of the nation’s most important defense programs.”
