Abbeville girl travels to West Monroe to compete in cattle competition

WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — The Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, La, hosted the AJBA Brahman Derby on June 29, 2024. Youth from all over the country were able to come and showcase their cattle-riding abilities.

Eleven-year-old Audrey Duhon says that cattle riding is nothing new to her. Duhon has been competing since she was nine-years-old.

Duhon says that the event is exciting for her and lets us in on a fun fact about her heifer, Ari.

I named my heifer after Ariana Grande because she has a spot on the side of her and Ariana Grande has a perfume line called Cloud, and her spot kind of looks like a cloud.

When asked how she felt about being able to compete at such a young age and learning from older competitors, Duhon said that everything is a learning experience.
