AAA projects Friday will be the busiest for 4th of July air travel
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Friday is expected to be the busiest air travel day ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
Auto group AAA projects nearly 1.6 million Wisconsinites will head out fifty miles or more from home between Friday and Sunday, July 7.
AAA also projected 5.74 million people will fly to their July 4th destinations this year – that’s an increase of nearly 7% compared to last year and a 12% increase over 2019.
Action 2 News caught up with airport officials in Green Bay to get some tips for holiday travelers in our area.
“I always tell everybody number one pack your patience, know that it’s going to be busy, bring some snacks along in case you encounter any delays along the way and always download your airlines’ app so that you’re getting real-time notifications of any flight changes or gate changes,” said Marty Piette, Airport Director, Austin Straubel International Airport.
With large crowds expected, travel officials suggest arriving at the airport several hours before your flight to ensure a timely departure.
