Highlights
- Square Enix has erected an Aetheryte Crystal in Central London to celebrate Dawntrail’s imminent release.
- The statue is outside King’s Cross St Pancras Station and will remain there until 11 pm BST on Monday, June 24.
- Used for fast travel in Final Fantasy 14, the crystal is intended to be a reminder to those who haven’t pre-order Dawntrail yet that the expansion launches on July 2, and early access begins this Friday.
It’s now only a little more than a week until Final Fantasy 14‘s Dawntrail expansion launches, and even less than that for those of you with early access who will be able to start the DLC this Friday. To celebrate, and to remind those of you who haven’t placed your pre-orders yet, Square Enix has erected a rea-life Aetheryte Crystal outside King’s Cross St Pancras Station.
The Aetheryte Crystal statue can be found outside of the Central London station right now but won’t be there for long. Final Fantasy 14 fans have until 11 pm BST today (Monday, June 24) to take advantage of what may well be the only chance they ever get to see one of the crystals in person. Even though the crystals are fast travel points in Hydaelyn, London’s version of the crystal doesn’t boast the same properties. If you’re not in or near London on the day the crystal is there, you will have to settle for admiring it in photo form.

Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Pre-Order Guide
Now we know the release date, it’s time to prepare for the journey.
Aetheryte Crystals are synonymous with Final Fantasy 14 so have been used to promote Dawntrail throughout the build to the expansion’s release. Xbox celebrated the imminent arrival of the DLC and Final Fantasy 14’s long-overdue release on Xbox this year by giving away a one-of-a-kind Series X designed to look like an Aetheryte Crystal. Unfortunately, much like the crystal in London today, the console sweepstake was only open for a limited time and your chance to win it has since passed.

It’s not too late to place a pre-order for Dawntrail though, and if an Aetheryte Crystal rising out of the ground has been the reminder it was intended to be, there are a few editions of Dawntrail to choose from. Pre-ordering any edition will get you early access to the expansion starting on June 28, and the collector’s edition, which includes a Warrior of Light statue and a cloth map of Haydaelyn featuring the new Dawntrail locations, is still available via the Square Enix store.
Standard Edition
Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail
The Standard Edition of Final Fantasy 14’s Dawntrail only comes with added extras, including four days of early access, if you pre-order. It will still be available through the links below post-release.
If your pre-order has been secured for months and you’ve just come here to see where the Aetheryte Crystal is, don’t head off just yet. There’s more Final Fantasy 14 stuff you can get to enhance your Dawntrail experience, including t-shirts in Uniqlo’s Final Fantasy collection which is available to buy in the US starting today. If you’re new to Final Fantasy 14 and already feel like you’re missing out as the Dawntrail hype train approaches top speed, you can currently grab a tenth-anniversary edition which includes the base game and its first two expansions.
